El invierno azul

the blue winter

Happy new year 2022 from Home and Living! We hope that this year meets all your expectations. The end of the holidays leaves our home a bit empty, but we want to keep it looking as cozy as possible.

One of the most used colors in this season of the year is blue. This color has a fascinating history. It was one of the last colors to emerge and extremely complex to get its color as there were not many sources from which to obtain this pigment.

The first blue on record is Egyptian Blue, a color that we still have today and that was used both for pictorial works and for vessels and pieces of jewelry.

Later came the Ultramarine Blue which was known as the color of divinity and royalty. This pigment was extracted from lapis lazuli, a semi-precious stone. Its price was extremely expensive, which made it reserved for renowned artists and divine representations.

Later, and by mistake, Prussian Blue emerged. This blue was cheaper than ultramarine and this made it quickly become very popular, spreading throughout the world. This color was used in Katsushika Hokusai's “Great Wave off Kanagawa”.

At Home and Living we are very excited to have this great work known worldwide, giving you the possibility of decorating your homes with it. We also have works such as "The Starry Night" by Van Gogh or "Huge Figures" by Hilma Af Klint, among others in which the color blue prevails.

All these products will give a winter touch to your home and will remind you of the great and fascinating history of the color blue.
